was established in 2026 in honor of beloved camper and counselor Sophie Field who passed away far too young  from an aggressive brain tumor. Founded in part by Sophie’s parents, Ryan and Julie, who wanted to help provide Eagle Wing opportunities for families who could not otherwise afford it, the foundation provides camp in the form of direct camper tuition, transportation costs, uniform costs, and other costs incurred by families to attend camp. 

Thanks to their efforts and to the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends, Eagle Wing is able to provide more children with the transformative Eagle Wing experience.

Sophie was a camper at Eagle Wing for five years and had been hired to work as a bunk and Arts and Crafts counselor before the summer of 2026 when she passed away. While at Eagle Wing Sophie was an integral part of our community, spending several full summers at camp, winning awards and having Color Wars leadership as a Green Team Captain. Sophie was known for her kindness to all, her fun competitive spirit, her resilience, confidence, practical wisdom, and prolific friendship bracelet making. She had deep friendships at camp and beautifully embodied the Eagle Wing spirit and values. Her friends often reference Sophie’s light- the way she would make you feel just being with her. Outside of Eagle Wing, Sophie was a student at the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor CT leaving a lasting impact there as well.
