Family Camp Details

At Family Camp, parents and their children come to camp together and engage in any or all of the camp’s activities.  Some activity periods are offered for parents, some for children, and others for parents and children.  Activity sign up is held twice a day, giving everyone a chance to sign up for their favorite activity.  Flather is always on the activity menu for parents.  What is Flather?—an opportunity to rest on the beach, lay in the hammock, read under a shady tree, take a nap, etc.

Mealtime becomes an activity unto itself.  Everyone takes a turn waiting on tables.  Cooking and cleanup are done by our kitchen staff.    Meals are not gourmet but are always ample, tasty and served family style.  Songs, skits, impromptu speeches, awards and mysteries, are always a part of mealtime, so is a chance to think great thoughts and tell tales of the day.
Everyone is housed in our modern and comfortable camper cabins. Each of the cabins is divided into two halves, with each half accommodating 12 campers and two counselors or 14 adults.  Each half cabin also contains its own bath and shower facilities.  While sheets and pillows are provided, family campers bring their own blankets.  Making ones bed and cleaning up the cabin are also   part of each morning’s activities.

Women’s Cabin: This cabin will sleep adult women and  girls under 10.  Boys five and under, who attend with mom may choose to stay in the women’s cabin.

Men’s Cabin: This cabin will sleep  adult men and boys under 10.

Girl’s Cabin: This cabin is for girls ten to fifteen.  Eagle Wing female counselors will be living in the cabin with the girls.

Boy’s Cabin: This cabin is for boys ten to fifteen.  Eagle Wing male counselors will be living in the cabin with the boys.

Eagle Wing is a technology free camp.  We ask that cell phones, laptops, radios, music playing devices, etc. be left in the car.  It is our hope that by eliminating these devices, we can protect the camp environment from outside intrusion, so that families may enjoy one another without interruption, or distraction.

Parents needing to contact home, work, etc, are asked to do so discretely. The camp office is open from 1:00 to 4:00pm. At times when the office is closed, a recording machine is on and is checked regularly.  Parents are encouraged to list the camp telephone number (207-255-3116) as their emergency number.

There is no smoking at camp and alcohol is not served.
